Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 16, 2026. This policy explains exactly what Simple Speedometer reads, what stays on your device, and the one thing that does not.
In plain English
Your location never leaves your iPhone. The app reads GPS to show your speed, and that is the end of it.
Your saved trips never leave your iPhone either. They are stored on the device and deleted when you delete the app.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or embed analytics or tracking SDKs.
The only thing that goes off the device is your subscription status, so that paying for Pro works and can be restored.
What Simple Speedometer is
Simple Speedometer is an iPhone app that shows your current speed from GPS, along with accuracy, compass heading and altitude. It can mirror the display onto your windshield as a head-up display, overlay your speed on a live camera view, and save private summaries of your trips.
Simple Speedometer is published on the App Store by VIIONR INFOTECH PRIVATE LIMITED, which also operates this website and handles support for the app.
Location data
The app requests location access so it can calculate your speed, distance travelled, heading and altitude. This is the core function of the app and it cannot work without it.
Location is processed entirely on your device. It is not transmitted to us, and it is not transmitted to any third party. There is no server that receives it, because the app contains no code that sends it anywhere.
You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings. The speedometer will stop working, because there is nothing else it can read your speed from.
Trip history
If you save a trip, the app stores its distance, duration, maximum speed and average speed locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage.
Trip summaries are not uploaded, not backed up to us, and not readable by us. Deleting the app deletes them.
The camera
The live camera view draws your speed on top of the camera feed so you can see both at once. The feed is rendered to the screen in real time and is never recorded, saved or transmitted. Nothing from the camera is stored anywhere, including on your own device.
Subscriptions and what that sends
Simple Speedometer uses RevenueCat to load App Store subscription products, process purchases and restore Pro access. This is the only part of the app that communicates with a server.
For that to work, RevenueCat receives your purchase history and a device-level identifier. It does not receive your name, your email address, your location or your trips.
The app never asks you to create an account and never calls any identify or login function, so this data is not connected to a personal identity.
Apple handles the payment itself. We never see your card details.
This is why the App Store privacy label shows Purchase History and Device ID, both used only for app functionality, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking.
What we do not do
There is no advertising SDK in the app and no advertising identifier is requested.
There is no analytics SDK in the app. We do not measure how you use it.
Simple Speedometer does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework, because it does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with data brokers.
Crash reports and support
Apple may provide us with aggregated or anonymised crash and usage data through App Store Connect, if you have agreed to share that with developers in your iOS settings. This comes from Apple, not from code we added.
If you email us for support, we receive whatever you choose to send, such as your email address, your message, and any device details or screenshots you attach. Support messages are kept only as long as needed for support, legal, security and business records.
Your rights
Because location and trip data stay on your device, the fastest way to erase them is to delete the app.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. In practice the only records we may hold are support emails and your subscription status.
To exercise any of these rights, email us using the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
Simple Speedometer is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through support, contact us and we will review the request.
International transfers
We are based in India. RevenueCat processes subscription requests outside India. Where required, transfers are made under appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Safety
Mount your device securely and set the app up before you drive. Never hold or interact with your device while driving. GPS speed depends on signal quality and does not replace your vehicle's certified speedometer.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app changes or when legal requirements change. The updated date at the top of the page shows the latest version.
