Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 20, 2026. These terms govern your use of Shelfwise.
Using Shelfwise
Shelfwise is a personal book-cataloguing and reading-tracking utility. You may use it only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms.
Shelfwise v1 is provided without a required account or paid subscription. Future optional features, if any, will be described before you choose to use or purchase them.
Book information and availability
Book titles, authors, covers, ISBNs, subjects, and related metadata may come from Open Library or other public metadata sources. Approtic does not guarantee that third-party metadata is complete, current, or error-free.
Shelfwise helps identify and track books. It does not provide free copies of copyrighted ebooks, audiobooks, or other publisher content.
Your library and backups
You are responsible for reviewing imported and scanned details and for maintaining exports of information you do not want to lose.
Device failure, app deletion, storage clearing, operating-system changes, or backup errors may cause local data loss. Export tools are provided for convenience but are not a guaranteed archival service.
Your content
You retain responsibility for notes, reviews, quotes, tags, and other content you enter. You must not use Shelfwise to store or distribute unlawful content or content that infringes another person's rights.
Book cover images and publisher metadata remain the property of their respective owners and are displayed for identification and personal cataloguing.
Third-party services
Open Library and Apple services operate under their own terms and policies. Their availability is outside Approtic's control, and online lookup features may be temporarily unavailable.
No warranties
Shelfwise is provided as is and as available. To the extent permitted by law, Approtic disclaims warranties of uninterrupted operation, permanent data retention, metadata accuracy, and compatibility with every device or imported file.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Approtic is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss arising from use of Shelfwise, including lost reading records, notes, exports, or incorrect metadata. Rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.
Changes and applicable law
We may improve, suspend, or discontinue features and revise these terms when the app, providers, or legal requirements change. The current terms will remain available on this page.
These terms are governed by applicable laws of India, without limiting mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
